Dome Animation

Presented in partnership with Nippon Connection On Tour
Tokyo’s Image Forum is the most respected producer of experimental film, video and animation in Japan, as well as one of the most important sources for experimental visual culture in the world. DOME Animation collects 15 short animated films by 15 of Image Forum’s most promising young animators. Curated by the animators themselves, and presented in cooperation with Frankurt am Main’s Nippon Connection Japanese Film Festival, the DOME Animation Special includes everything from the flight of fancy of Mitsuo Toyama’s John, to Nasuka Saito’s architectural exploration A Labyrinth of Residence. Taking its name from the Japanese kanji 動 as in “moving images” and the kanji 夢 read in Chinese as “dream” DOME Animation takes us into the dreams that motion pictures can transport us to.
