In 2006 filmmaker Maya Yonesho brought her singular style of handpainted-watercolour stop-motion animation to life by taking it out into the streets of Vienna, Austria. The end result, Wiener Wuast, is a kaleidoscopic travelogue of the city that synthesizes 2D animation and 3D filmmaking, a working method that Yonesho would explore further in her Daumenreise Travel Workshop series that’s taken her to such far flung locales as Taiwan, Croatia, Kyoto, Poland and Israel. Yonesho’s Israel Mix will also be featured at the Shinsedai Cinema Festival.
