29-year-old manga artist, animator and designer Akino Kondoh has gained fans both at home in Japan and around the world with her black and white storybook illustrations. Her short film The Evening Traveling was completed while she was still a student at the Tama University Department of Graphic Design, but its surreal, Edward Gorey-esque song and dance aesthetic instantly became a hit on the interntaional short film festival circuit and ended up taking home the Grand Prix for DIGISTA AWARDS 2002 / Animation Division.
