CANADIAN PREMIERE
25-year-old Yasutomo Chikuma’s filmmaking debut “Now, I…”is the probably one film that best exemplifies the spirit of the Shinsedai Cinema Festival. Chikuma maxed out his credit card, spending ¥480,000 (roughly $5,000) on telling the story of Satoru (played by Chikuma himself), a young man categorized in Japan as a NEET (Not engaged in Education, Employment or Training). Satoru’s days are spent sleeping and playing video games until two fateful events take place: his mother’s friend gets him a job at a winery, and his mother passes away. How will Satoru cope now that he is forced to go out into the world?
Screening Time: Sunday, August 23rd @ 2:15 PM
Writer/ Director/ Actor Yasutomo Chikuma will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A.
