Springing from the imaginations of director Kei Shichiri and screenwriter Minori Shinsaku “Hottentot Apron: A Sketch” is a surreal and nearly silent tale of a young woman (Hiroko Akune) who is obsessed with a large hemangioma (benign vascular tumor) on her hip. One day after meeting a hooded man she crawls into a cardboard box and enters into a fantasy world where she discovers a life-sized doll who bears the same birthmark.
